Despite adverse weather conditions, the top 14 rugby match between RC Toulon and Stade Rochelais was maintained as originally planned. This decision, taken by the Prefect of the Var, contrasts with the postponement of the Classic between Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain (OM-PSG) announced by the Préfecte des Bouches-du-Rhône due to the same climatic conditions. The National League of Rugby (LNR) confirmed this decision, informing the sports media of the meeting held in Toulon this Sunday evening at 9:05 pm.
The postponement of the Classic led to an unusual shift for the Parisian delegation. Arriving in Marseille for the match originally scheduled, the PSG team had to return by plane to Paris before returning to play the match on Monday 22nd September at 8pm. This decision was motivated by the desire to allow some players to support Ouïsmane Dembélé at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, an event to which nine Parisian players are nominated. The PSG had proposed other dates, but these were refused by OM out of respect for supporters, students and workers.
The reprogramming of the Classic, originally scheduled for Monday 22 September at 8 p.m., is in accordance with the rules of the Ligue 1 and has been accepted by OM. This decision, although logical from a regulatory point of view, is perceived negatively by the GMP, as it coincides with the Golden Balloon ceremony. In addition, the Parisian club has to deal with uncertainties regarding the composition of its team, with injuries and returns of players expected in the coming days. So the weather finally decided on the schedule of this much expected poster.
