Return from Majorique: a coach facing the challenges of cohesion

Jagoba Arrastate, a respected coach of the LALIGA, is currently at RCDB Majorique after a period of absence from Pamplona. This season marks his return to Son Moix, and he sees a notable difference in the management of northern teams compared to his previous experiences. In a recent interview, he highlighted a particular distinction in the management of the locker room, a characteristic he observed less frequently in the southern teams. He stressed that the transmission of a philosophy and a method requires, above all, an internal conviction, and that managing human relations within the team, including conflict resolution, is a major challenge.

Arrastate insists on the importance of “hinged players”, these individuals who, through their deep-rooted DNA and values, greatly facilitate the coach’s work. He explains that these players, often from outside, integrate quickly and contribute to a form of self-management within the team. This dynamic, which he observed at the Royal Society and Osasuna, is a valuable asset for cohesion and performance.

However, the coach admits that Majorique presents specific difficulties due to the diversity of nationalities and the arrival of outside players. This composition required more intervention on his part to manage interpersonal dynamics and ensure team cohesion. He concluded that this difference in the management of the locker room was a particular challenge he faced in Majorique, in contrast to the ease he had encountered in the northern teams.
