Juventus-Dortmund 4-4: Defaults and ambitions in football and politics

The Champions League match between the Juventus and Borussia Dortmund resulted in a score of 4-4, a particularly frustrating result for the Juventus after leading with two goals. The team showed signs of defensive fragility, notably with several mistakes by goaltender Michele Di Gregorio, on actions by Felix Nmecha and Yan Couto. Despite this, Di Gregorio made some important stops and demonstrated a certain potential, although he needs to work on his mentality and to benefit from physiological support. Observers like Alessandro Del Piero and Fabio Capello stress the need to invest in the development of Di Gregorio, even comparing it favourably with more established goaltenders like those of Naples.

Dusan Vlahovic, author of two goals and a decisive pass, expressed his frustration at the criticisms and high expectations placed on him. He stressed the difficulty of maintaining a constant level of performance over the entire duration of a match, especially against a team as competitive as Borussia Dortmund. Vlahovic praised the team’s collective effort and the quality of Borussia players, while recognizing the margin of progress that it still has to achieve. He is aware of the expectations placed in him and the need to work harder than others to meet them.

At the same time, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez pleaded for Israel’s exclusion from international sporting competitions. This proposal comes after incidents during the Vuelta in Espaรฑa, where pro-Palestinian activists disrupted the cycling race. Sanchez justified this request by comparing it with Russia’s exclusion following the invasion of Ukraine, arguing that Israel should not have been spared such a sanction. He stressed that this position is widely shared by Spanish citizens and is based on respect for human rights and international law, which would be flouted by the actions of Israel and Russia.
