Wijndal ambitions the European summit after success and ready

Owen Wijndal, the young Dutch defender, had ambitiously expressed his desire to become the best left side of Europe. After two years, he succeeded in establishing himself as an indisputable holder in Ajax Amsterdam. The club gives him increasing confidence and is determined to return him to the field. This season, Wijndal played every minute possible with Ajax, under the direction of coach John Heitinga, who seems to guarantee him a place of choice. His transfer from AZ Alkmaar to Ajax in 2022 was made after being a key player in Alkmaar, where he had to fight to win in Amsterdam. Despite opportunities to leave, he chose to remain aware of the competition and the need to maintain a high level of performance.

During the 2023/24 season, Wijndal was loaned to Royal Antwerp, where he played forty games and scored a goal. He had previously met Steven Bergwijn and had declared that they were going to form the best pair of left flanks in Europe. However, Wijndal bare tempered this statement, explaining that it had been exaggerated and that Heitinga had been advised to avoid making such claims. Despite this, he said that at the time he felt that confidence. He is aware that constant performance is essential, not only for him, but for all players on the team.

Wijndal made his debut with the Dutch national team in October 2020 in a friendly match against Mexico. He also participated in Euro 2020, where he entered into play as a replacement. To date, he has played eleven international matches for the Netherlands. He still has the dream of playing for Real Madrid, although his former teammates, Calvin Stengs and Myrron Boadu, regard a career in Madrid as a more realistic goal.
