Galatasaray issues Champions League and renegotiates key player

Galatasaray prepares to face Eintracht Frankfurt as part of the UEFA Champions League, a crucial match for qualifying in Germany. The arbitration of this important meeting will be entrusted to Marco Guida, an Italian referee who has already acted in a Galatasaray match against Olimpija Ljubljana in August 2023. During this previous meeting, Galatasaray won 1-0 with a goal from Mauro Icardi, despite the expulsion of Lucas Torreira. Guida also arbitrated a prep game in 2016, where Galatasaray won a 1-0 win.

In parallel with these sports preparations, Galatasaray negotiates a new contract with its player Peace Alper Yılmaz. Discussions are ongoing and the club, under the leadership of President Dursun Özbek, is willing to offer 5 million euros and annual bonuses to retain the player, who has regained the confidence of the team. Alper made a promising season, competing in 3 games, with 3 assists and 6 goals scored.

For the match against Frankfurt, coach Okan Buruk foresees a different composition, favouring more experienced and athletic players. Changes are envisaged in several positions, with Wilfried Singo replacing Roland Sallai and Gabriel Sara playing as a libero ahead of Mario Lemina. Peace Alper could be positioned on the wings in the absence of Osimhen, or even replace Icardi in a scenario where the player does not participate. These adjustments are designed to strengthen the team’s ability to struggle and physical power.
